My thoughts on the Reluctant Radical film and the "Valve Turners"

My friend Dave is a filmmaker, who shared a post on Facebook, a fundraising video from Deia Schlosberg, who co-produced a film called the Reluctant Radical. She posted from the Telluride Film Festival.

This is my comment:

I can't believe how many people are promoting the story of the Valve Turners as being heroes. These people have done and ARE DOING incredible damage to the climate/sustainable energy movement.

They violated the prime directive of Nonviolent Direct Action (NVDA), and they violated the Precautionary Principle. They did something incredibly STUPID and dangerous, which could have CAUSED a pipeline spill like Mayflower Arkansas Oil Spill or Kalamazoo MI, and spoiled ecosystems for 50+ years.

The essence of NVDA is putting OUR OWN life on the line for justice. NO ONE has the right to put the lives of others at risk of grave harm, as you try to become a Climate Hero, through desperate, foolish, and ineffective action.

We all have already suffered the bogus charge of "ecoterrorism" as we do the work of PROTECTION, but now it will be worse. e.g., I just got contacted by the Vestal PD because **words on my blog** suggested to someone (who had not actually carefully read what I wrote) that I was an "ecoterrorist" and advocating industrial sabotage. This is the farthest thing from the truth.

Furthermore, I have NEVER heard these "valve turners" ever admit what they did was stupid and extremely dangerous, not only to themselves, but to many other living beings. Far from Discouraging people from acting as they have acted, they are ENCOURAGING copy-cats to monkey-wrench

So they either UNDERSTOOD the risks they were taking, but acted anyway, like shooting off an automatic weapon in a shopping mall. This is the definition of a violent criminal, and such people should properly be in prison.

If they CANNOT UNDERSTAND the risks they took, and refuse to show any remorse, then this is the definition of Criminal Insanity. Either way, these people are a PUBLIC MENACE and should properly be imprisoned for Environmental Crimes, until they renounce these STUPID actions.
